Our Evidence-Based Approach
VisualDx knowledge and recommendations are based on best available evidence ordered according to standard industry protocols and interpreted by expert opinion. The editorial team, including physician authors and editors, trained medical librarians, and in-house editorial staff, continually monitor the medical literature for the latest diagnostic, testing, management, and therapeutic evidence.
Best available evidence is evaluated by source type, validity, and clinical suitability. Editorial contributors and staff follow a protocol from most to least evidence: from meta-analyses and systematic reviews of randomized controlled clinical trials to cohort studies to case-control studies to case series to individual expert opinions.
Clinical authors and editors write and review the diagnosis summaries in VisualDx; we do not permit the use of generative artificial intelligence, including large language models. Our content is not influenced by outside parties.
Learn MoreOur Image Collection
All images included in the VisualDx Image Collection—both clinical and pathological—are unaltered, authentic representations of real patient cases, submitted exclusively by qualified physician contributors. No part of the image data has been modified, synthesized, or enhanced using artificial intelligence (AI) or any other computational techniques.
Each submission is subjected to a rigorous, multi-phase review process conducted by experts to verify clinical accuracy, relevance, and quality. The preservation of image authenticity and data integrity constitutes a foundational principle of our image acquisition framework and collection curation policy.

Our Commitment to Diversity in Imagery
For 25 years, VisualDx has been committed to providing a comprehensive resource for medical images across all skin types.
We know the importance of helping healthcare professionals with the challenges and subtleties of recognizing skin changes in patients with darker skin pigmentation. Equally important is the ability to engage with patients of color by showing them images that look like them or the way a diagnosis manifests on dark skin. This can build confidence and trust—an essential part of practicing exemplary medicine.
