A 54-year-old woman has a blackish lesion on one of her toes. Let’s diagnose.

 

A 54-year-old woman visited her doctor about a blackish lesion on one of her toes that she first noticed 1 month prior. On examination, a variegated and grayish plaque with irregular borders was seen on the plantar aspect of the second toe of her right foot. She was not currently on any medications and had no recent history of trauma. The patient appeared well and displayed no systemic symptoms.
