Systemic racism and healthcare inequities persistently disadvantage Black and Brown communities, leading to substandard and unequal dermatological care. Educational and professional resources often exclude these populations, resulting in delayed diagnoses and inadequate treatment.

Efforts to dismantle discriminatory practices, promote cultural competence, and expand access to affordable healthcare are essential for achieving equitable dermatologic outcomes.

Vaseline leveraged VisualDx’s image search API to create “SeeMySkin,” a patient-centric website. This site empowers Black and Brown individuals to understand their skin conditions better. Users can look up dermatologic conditions, view medical imagery of skin presentations in patients of color, and connect with culturally competent dermatologists in their area. To date, SeeMySkin has facilitated over 600,000 site interactions.

Sponsoring VisualDx Licenses for Clinicians Seeing Diverse Patient Populations:

Vaseline sponsored free access to VisualDx for hundreds of healthcare providers, enhancing dermatological care for patients of color. VisualDx’s extensive image library, featuring 34% skin of color presentations, improves clinical decision-making and patient satisfaction. These providers see an average of 28 skin of color patients each week, spanning various specialties including primary care, dermatology, pediatrics, and emergency medicine.

Improving Education for Clinicians:
