Tinea corporis in Infant/Neonate
See also in: Cellulitis DDxSynopsis

Immunosuppressed patients are at risk for disseminated tinea infection.
A severe antifungal-resistant tinea has emerged in South Asia from the rapid spread of a novel dermatophyte species: Trichophyton indotineae. Terbinafine-resistant T indotineae infections have been reported in Asia (especially India), Europe, North America, South America, and Africa, including 2 cases in New York City with no history of recent international travel. This species is more easily spread within families, and infants and even neonates may be affected via exposure to an adult family member with the disease.
