Synopsis

Nonbullous neutrophilic lupus erythematosus (also known as systemic lupus erythematosus [SLE]-associated neutrophilic dermatosis or Sweet-like neutrophilic dermatosis) is a rare presentation of cutaneous lupus erythematosus.

Nonbullous neutrophilic lupus erythematosus has been reported almost exclusively in women. Clinically, the eruption presents with widespread pruritic urticarial papules and plaques without any vesicles, bullae, or pustules. The degree of pruritus varies, and some cases have been accompanied by burning or are asymptomatic. All reported patients had underlying SLE at the time of presentation, and some cases developed while on immunosuppressive therapy.

Whether nonbullous neutrophilic lupus erythematosus is a forme fruste of bullous lupus, a Sweet-like eruption, or a distinct entity is debated in the literature.
